Therapy Services

Desert Wise offers out-patient psychotherapy to adult individuals, and we offer both in-person and virtual options. 

Note: We are no longer accepting new couples, and we do not see children/minors.

Our specialties are in treating:

  • Trauma [including PTSD, C-PTSD (complex PTSD), MST (military sexual trauma)]
  • Grief and complicated bereavement
  • Depression
  • High stakes occupations (e.g., military, veterans, medical professionals, therapists, aviators, first responders, business owners, and executives)
  • Difficulties transitioning to the civilian environment

We are also experienced in treating:

  • Relationship problems
  • Assertiveness and boundary setting
  • Anger management
  • Life transitions
  • Resiliency building
  • Self-worth and self-esteem concerns
  • LGBTQ+ psychological health
  • Occupational and academic functioning (e.g., Improving leadership effectiveness, navigating difficult work environments, career transitions, etc.)

Payment and Fees

We currently accept the following insurances:

  • TRICARE
  • TriWest (VA)
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (all commercial lines) 
  • United Behavioral Health (Optum)
  • Medicare – Part B
  • Western Sky Community Care Medicaid

We also accept direct/private pay patients. The fee structure for direct pay therapy varies from one Desert Wise provider to the next. Dr. Henrie’s rates start at $200 per hour, and Desert Wise has therapists whose rates start at $120 per hour.

New Patient Paperwork

For in-person patients: New patients need to complete and print the relevant forms below in advance and arrive at your first appointment at its scheduled start time. (This form is fillable, which allows you to type and save your answers.)

If you are unable to complete and print these forms ahead of time, you will need to arrive to your first appointment 45 minutes early to complete the paper packet located in the lobby.

We recognize that the initial paperwork can be time intensive, but we assure you that this is a one-time requirement in service of full disclosure and policy comprehensiveness.

If you have any questions or concerns about any of the items or forms, leave the item(s) in question blank, and address them with your provider at the start of your first appointment.

For virtual patients: New patients need to complete the relevant forms below in advance and send them to their provider at least 24 hours prior to their scheduled intake session. If you do not send your completed paperwork in advance, your intake appointment may be canceled and rescheduled for a later date.

We recommend that patients password protect their paperwork prior to emailing it. If this is not an option, you may exclude sensitive, identifying information to relay to your provider verbally. Alternatively, you may fax your paperwork (i.e., by requesting the fax number from your provider), you may mail it to us at: Desert Wise, 1201 Eubank Blvd NE, Ste. 1, Albuquerque, NM 87112.

Fitness for Duty Evaluations

Dr. Henrie is experienced in a variety of occupational evaluations, especially those that pertain to:

  • Occupational functioning
  • Occupational suitability/fitness/retainability
  • Disciplinary actions from professional boards
  • Assessment of suitability for special positions

Insurance company’s willingness to cover these evaluations varies from one company to the next, as well as one situation to the next. Individuals seeking fitness for duty evaluations are responsible for checking with their insurance company and understanding their out-of-pocket responsibilities.

The fee structure for direct/private pay one-time evaluations is as follows:

  • $500 per evaluation (includes: 45 – 90 minutes face-to-face time, record review, and report writing — up to 6 hours of total work)
  • $100 per hour after the first 6 hours of total work

Individuals seeing Dr. Henrie for fitness for duty evaluations need to print and complete the relevant forms below in advance and arrive at your evaluation appointment at its scheduled start time. Additionally, you will need to bring any relevant mental health records to your evaluation.
