Psychotherapy
Desert Wise offers psychotherapy to adult individuals and primarily utilizes a psychodynamic framework for conducting therapy.
Note: We are no longer accepting new couples, and we do not see children/minors.
Our specialties are in treating:
- Trauma (including complex trauma and/or trauma originating from childhood)
- Grief and complicated bereavement
- Depression
- High stakes occupations (e.g., military, veterans, medical professionals, therapists, aviators, first responders, business owners, and executives)
We are also experienced in treating:
- LGBTQ+ psychological health
- Relationship problems
- Assertiveness and boundary setting
- Anger management
- Life transitions
- Resiliency building
- Self-worth and self-esteem concerns
- Occupational and academic functioning
- Goal setting and behavior change
- Risk assessment and mitigation
Fitness for Duty Evaluations
Dr. Henrie is experienced in a variety of occupational evaluations, especially those that pertain to:
- Occupational functioning
- Occupational suitability/fitness/retainability
- Disciplinary actions from professional boards
- Assessment of suitability for special positions
Expert Consultation
Dr. Henrie has experience in a variety of consultation capacities, including:
- Litigation in the areas of military, veterans, suicide prevention, and PTSD
- Organizational functioning and effectiveness
- Leadership effectiveness
- Program management
- Risk mitigation and management
- Standard of care
- Writing medicolegal documents
Dr. Henrie does not accept criminal cases and/or competency to stand trial evaluations.
Clinical Training and Supervision
Dr. Henrie has provided clinical supervision to numerous unlicensed post-graduate clinicians and students across five different agencies. She is currently providing clinical supervision at Desert Wise for individuals who:
- Have a strong interest in working with military-connected individuals (including veterans)
- Have a primary interest in treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Are psychodynamically oriented or are interested in learning psychodynamic interventions
- Are team players, know how to be good stewards of a clinic culture, are highly conscientious, and have high emotional intelligence
- Demonstrate both grit and a sense of humor
Dr. Henrie is enthusiastic about supervising psychotherapists-in-training of any credentialing type. Trainees are responsible for knowing their licensing requirements (e.g., number of supervised hours needed, what proportion can be provided by a psychologist, etc.).
